The radKIDS Personal Empowerment Safety Education Program
radKIDS, Inc. is dedicated to providing proven and effective life saving skills for children by teaching them how to “Resist Aggression Defensively.” Since the organization’s inception in 1998, more than 150,000 children have graduated from the program and 3000 instructors have been certified nationwide. Thus far more than 75 children have been documented escaping an attempted abduction and well over 1,100 children have reported that they got away from a sexual assault or bullying incident. These young heroes have escaped the horrible realities of abduction, bullying, child abuse, sexual assault and manipulation. In all these incidents the children were able to use their personal abilities along with the tools they acquired in radKIDS classes to escape their attackers and return safely to their loved ones.
In 2003 Ed Smart, father of Elizabeth Smart, joined the Board of Directors and has been instrumental in bringing world-wide attention to the power of this hands-on educational model for children on national news and television programs such as the Oprah Winfrey Show.
The radKIDS comprehensive Personal Empowerment Safety Education curriculum, designed for children ages 5 through 12 years of age, is based on accelerated learning theory and realistic physical resistance options to escape violence. Curriculum topics range from Home and School Safety, to Out and About Safety, to Realistic Defense Against Abduction as well as Good, Bad and Uncomfortable Touch. Through radKIDS training, children become empowered and learn to replace the fear, confusion, and panic of dangerous situations with confidence, personal safety skills and self-esteem.
